A TC Pro user since 2012 who has struggled for a year to break in the updated version in their usual size; finds it narrower than the first generation, with a plastic tongue tab that digs in. Construction, glue and rubber are clearly better and the feel is still there.

“There are good upgrades. The upper is sturdier, and it appears to have much better glue and rubber. My first gen uppers would start going downhill from day one.”

Bought the 2021 version half a size down from their old TC Pro size; it is narrower in the heel and forefoot with a taller toe box, and the new rand looks likely to stop the delamination every earlier pair suffered.

“I purchased the new 2021 version and went down a half size from my normal TC Pro fit. The new version (43) is noticeably narrower in the heel and forefoot”
positivedurable

Returned it right away: the tight heel rand would have needed an even bigger downsize than their Dragos to remove heel dead space, and the tongue folded on itself and created pressure spots. Ordered a Scarpa Generator Mid instead.

“I was so sure I would love this shoe, but I returned it right away. I was expecting to have more of a relaxed fit, but given the aggressively-tensioned heel rand”
negative

Their TC Pros are on a third resole, used almost only for crack climbing, and are still in good shape.

positivedurable

With UK 13 street shoes, climbs trad only in TC Pros downsized to UK 10.5; they bagged out a lot and fit perfectly after a few good days out.

positivestretches a lot

Has long, narrow feet and really likes the fit of their TC Pros.

positivecomfortable

Always votes TC Pros for trad: never found an edge too small for them, comfortable enough for walk-offs, and still in better condition than any other shoe they've owned.

positiveprecise edgingcomfortabledurable

Finds the TC Pro the gold standard for multipurpose trad, but doesn't love it for splitter hand cracks, where they wear Mythos instead.

mixed

With wide flat feet, TC Pros and Finales are the only shoes that have ever truly worked for them.

positivecomfortable

TC Pros are by far the most comfortable for jamming from thin hands up; the rubber and padding over the little toe are key. Climbs Squamish cracks to 5.11-.

positivecomfortable

Can wear their TC Pros basically all day with toes flat and snug at the end.

positivecomfortable

Has had Generators, TC Pros and Katanas; TC Pros keep the foot flat and are good for hand cracks and multipitch.

positivecomfortable

Got plantar fasciitis pain and big-toe joint skin pain in TC Pros on sport routes.

negativepainful

First pair of TC Pros took about 50 easy pitches to break in; resoled a few times they feel like slippers, and a second pair in the same size too.

positiveneeds break-indurable

TC Pros feel weird on their feet; now only used for cold-season climbing with socks, and a half size smaller wrecked their heel.

negativepainful

With wide feet (12.5 street) they wear a 45 TC Pro; takes a few days to break in, then they happily keep them on for hours.

positivecomfortable

Has wide, high-medium volume feet and finds TC Pros completely fine for long trad days, half a size down from street.

positivecomfortable

First TC Pros: the tongue leaves hotspots on the top of the foot at the big and little toe joints after a 2-hour session.

negativepainful

Climbed the Horseshoe Hell 12-hour in larger TC Pros plus approach shoes and it worked very well.

positivecomfortable

Loves their TC Pros, though they currently have holes in the toes and are going for a resole.

positivedurable

Their feet never loved TC Pros, in the older or the new model, for comfy multipitch, slab or wider cracks.

negativepainful

TC Pros took a while to break in but are plenty sensitive; likes them for pure crack climbs.

positiveneeds break-insensitive

TC Pros are growing on them: not best at anything but good at everything for long multipitch, high top keeps them warm; the stiffness is real for a small climber.

mixedcomfortable

Hasn't fully broken in their TC Pros; they still feel like clown shoes and they can't feel what they're stepping on.

negativeneeds break-in

Trads in Squamish and Washington in TC Pros; likes the ankle protection for cracks and finds the stiffness perfect.

positive

With flat feet TC Pros were awful: tired feet and aching arches; went back to Mythos.

negativepainful

A month of long routes in TC Pros gave them arch pain despite a good fit.

negativepainful

Wears TC Pros on long multipitch days; comfortable but still loosens them on big ledges.

positivecomfortable

Their TC Pros are snug enough to bend toes slightly; that fit stays on all day on multipitch crack.

positive

TC Pros were OK at first, then stretched; now wears them with socks for comfort.

mixedstretches a lot

Has climbed multipitch in TC Pros and found them comfy.

positivecomfortable

A new pair of TC Pros is much softer and cushier on the upper and insole than their 2018 pair; comfy right out of the box.

positivecomfortable

After a year of multipitch, their new TC Pros developed a toe bulge that ruins edging, though they're comfy and great on slabs and cracks.

mixedcomfortable

TC Pro fit great but the slingshot rand dug into the Achilles until they sliced it.

mixedpainful

TC Pros fit like a glove in the shop but were agony, crushing from the sides; never broke in and sold them.

negativepainful

A pair of TC Pros wore through on the toe the first time in a crack.

negativewears out fast

Uses TC Pros when needing support on steep multipitches, small edges or offwidth.

positive

TC Pros are pretty good, but the heel strap hurts and the tongue is annoying.

mixed

Wears TC Pros on 90% of trad pitches; the best crack shoe they've worn from off-fingers to offwidth.

positive

After half a dozen pairs of Mythos, now has two pairs of TC Pros and calls them hands down the best crack and trad shoe, comfortable on long alpine days once broken in.

positive

Has had a pair for about eight years and two resoles; tight for the first couple of months but now the most comfortable rock shoes they've worn.

positive

Their TC Pros took about 50 pitches to break in and feel very comfortable.

positive

TC Pros are bomber in cracks so far and markedly better than Mythos, letting the foot rest while the shoe works.

positive

TC Pros are the correct answer for trad; when edging in other shoes they always wish they were wearing them.

positive

TC Pros are very high-performance for how comfortable they are; has used them for trad and sport and highly recommends them.
