Uses an ATC Guide for belaying from above on trad and thinks it's a fantastic belay plate.

Finds that an 8.2 mm rope wants to fly through the ATC-Guide, which is rated from 8.1 mm, and would add a second carabiner for more friction.
Tried thin-rope-specific devices with their 7.7 mm ice ropes but ended up using the ATC-Guide (or a Pivot); never had issues lowering or rappelling, adding a second carabiner for extra friction on one free-hanging rappel.
Loves their ATC-Guide, has had three and sees no reason to switch.
Enjoys pairing the ATC Guide with a GriGri for maximum versatility on trad.
Has used the BD ATC Guide for years: small, light, durable, with guide mode and two slots for double-rope rappels.
