The new Instinct S, one full size down from street, starts very tight but relaxes over a handful of climbing days; synthetic uppers.
Downsized the Instinct S by 1.5-2 and it was painful at first; toes go numb after 15-20 minutes straight.
Their Instinct S in 43 (one size down) is much better for smearing than the VS and doesn't curl the toes as much; softer with stretchier toe rubber.
The Instinct S has a narrower toe box and is a bit stiffer than the VSR, with a softer toe-hook patch; struggled to find a use case and found the toe box uncomfortable.
The Instinct S can't be tightened: it either fits or it doesn't, and heel hooking pulls the shoe loose.
Has had multiple pairs of Instinct S: buy the smallest size you can put on new since they stretch over time.
Sized the Instinct S half a size down: brutal to break in and they need to take them off regularly in a gym session, so they mostly live in the bag.
Closest to a perfect heel fit for their wide forefoot and narrow heel; secure on heel hooks even as a slipper and preferable to the Skwama Women's heel.
Has both VSR and S in 39.5: the S feels slightly tighter with a slimmer heel and wraps the midfoot snugly; not much softer than the VSR.
The Instinct S slipper feels stiffer and better at edging than the VSR while still smearing well once broken in.
Broke in their Instinct S in about 3-6 hours of gym bouldering; amazing heel and arch fit.
Has wide feet with a narrow heel and the Instinct S is one of several Instincts that work for them.
The Instinct S is one of their main shoes alongside the Drone 2.0 HV.
The Instinct S is great, more aggressive than the Geshido.
Absolutely loves the Instinct S; fit their foot like a glove out of the box.
Got the Instinct S after the VSR and is really happy: superb slippers that edge, smear and even hook; narrower than the VS/VSR and need a bit of break-in.
Preferred their Instinct S for vertical sport climbing and felt more confident in it.
Finds the Instinct S stiffer than the VSR; the rubber is its only con for them at 90-95 kg.
Finds the Instinct S sloppy and stiff.
The Instinct S heel fits their small heel well, even as a slipper.
Had good luck with the Instinct S fit, though the break-in was miserable.
Went with the Instinct S slippers and they fulfilled their need for a shallow heel, though quite aggressively downturned.
The Instinct S gets into micros with good tension, is great for long sessions and soft enough for sensitivity.
The Instinct S has an almost perfect heel for them, but its centred forefoot makes their toes hurt.
The Instinct S was very stiff under the forefoot and crushed their big toe to the point of injury.
Basically only uses the Instinct S now: big toe patch, a better heel than the regular Instinct, and brilliant sensitivity; size down half from the Instinct.
Finds the Instinct S softer and more sensitive than other Instincts thanks to thinner rubber, with a slightly better heel fit and more comfort, though it doesn't last as long.
“Try the Instinct S. thinner rubber, more feels and softer, but still an instinct. For me it fits a little better in the heel and the softness makes it more comfy generally. It doesn’t last as long though.”
With low-volume heels, finds the Instinct S their second-best heel fit after the women's Skwama, about the same as the VSR LV.
Finds the Instinct S has the best heel for them, even as a slipper, and very comfortable.
